I recently had the opportunity to shoot in the studio of Sunshine Company in Cape Town. But that was not the highlight, the highlight was that I could use a state of the art Hasselblad H5D-50C camera and lenses as well as their Profoto lights for the day! The first part of the shoot I did the recently published shoot for Deetlefs Estate as I wanted to take full advantage of the monster 50-megapixel sensor of the camera. The second part of the shoot I wanted to have a model to test things like focus speed and how easy is it to handle such a monster of a camera. At nearly R500 000 for the setup, this is probably not something I will own very soon, so I had to make full use of it for the day. For the second part, I did a fitness shoot with the awesome Jody Calitz. She is a fitness athlete and trainer and is also a full on vegan athlete, something that commands huge respect from anyone. Jody was awesome and here are the images from her shoot. Please pop on over to her website to follow what she is doing. All the other links will take you to the different sites of everyone mentioned. Please feel free to share.
This is the Model portfolio shoot I did for Anja. This was the very first time that she has stepped in front of the camera and she was a total rock star! She was natural and with some guidance we made awesome images. ~feel free to comment and share.
I was commissioned by Deetlefs Wine Estate to shoot the new campaign for their MCC Champagne. We had loads of fun with this and to see the final image and product come together was just awesome. Some long hours behind the editing machine but it was worth every second. Have a look and tell me you don't want to have a glass of bubbly right now.
Debbie and George booked me to photograph their stunning Wildekrans Estate wedding in December. It was a warm and cloudy day, perfect weather actually as it was not too hot. The setting was this awesome tent outside and because it was a morning wedding the whole atmosphere was relaxed. Debbie was driven in on the back of an old Ox wagon that was restored and it was something completely different than the norm. Debbie and Jorge have been together for years and now they have made it official on this awesome day. Their little boy was the proud ring bearer and you could see what an honour it was for him. If you are ever in the Botrivier area, please stop by this estate to taste their award winning wines, its simply mind blowing! Please feel free to share with friends and family.
Nicolene is a finalist in the 2016 USN Body Makeover competition. She contacted me to do an updated portfolio shoot for her in my studio. We had loads of fun and the images will tell the story. All the best to her and the rest of the finalists in this hard challenge.
This past December while I was on holiday in Gansbaai, I saw in the local newspaper that Marciel Hopkins was also in Gansbaai during the holiday. So I took a chance and contacted her via social media to see if she was keen to shoot with me. Well as you can see by this post, she was!! How awesome is that! This lady is going to go places in South Africa, for a nicer person you could not ask! Being a finalist for the Miss South Africa title is already a huge accomplishment and I can't wait to see her on stage during the main event happening in March. Please pop on over to her social media feed to give her a follow! Marciel, we are rooting for you all the way! #teammarciel
This is the engagement shoot of Jeanre & Luan. This stunning couple booked me for their wedding that is taking place later this year. I simply can't wait for it, as I think this is going to be one fun wedding! If I make a really cool connection with clients during the first meeting, the big day is bound to be awesome. Feel free to share.
The places where I sometimes meet my clients is weird. 90% of the time clients will e-mail me first, but on the odd occasion I will randomly meet them somewhere, and that was the case with Matthew & Megan. In February of 2015 I photographed a Yzerfontein wedding at Strandkombuis and while photographing the decor, Matt and Megan happen to be there to view the venue for their wedding in November! We started chatting and as you can say, the rest is history. It was one of those magic West Coast days, perfect weather and pretty hot. As the wedding took place on the beach, everyone was in a relaxed mood. That relaxed mood took the part to a new level as they went into the night. Strandkombuis is such an awesome venue and even better food! If you want a beach wedding, this is the venue for you. Here is a link to the video trailer that was shot by the awesome team of Consuming Fire Films.
To be asked by friends to do their Maternity & Newborn photography session is always an honour for me. Because you already have a bond with those people, its easier to get great images. The client, and myself, are instantly more relaxed about the shoot. This is the second time I have had this privilege with Suzanne and Tracer with the pregnancy and birth of their second daughter, Jana. As always, I try to push for that extra bit of creativity and I am so happy that Suzanne was open for it! We did part of her shoot in the dam on their farm in Rawsonville, and I must say I am truly happy with the images we created. Thank goodness it was summer already! I went back about two months after the maternity shoot to photograph the new arrival, Jana, and what a pretty little thing she is, big sister was really awesome with her. Well, let's not keep you too long, please have a look at the images and feel free to share.
At the end of 2015, I was commissioned by the Hyundai Worcester dealership to capture their stunning dealership for their new website and online marketing campaign. Commercial photography like this has always been a major part of why I got into photography. There is simply no better compliment for any photographer to have a major brand ask you to photograph their products and brand. To know that you are associated with that brand is a huge honour. Well here is a couple of those images. Feel free to share.
