Engagement Photography – Tinus & Michelle

As murphy would have it, photoshoots don't always go to plan! For the engagement photography session that we planned, we wanted to do some landscape panoramic images over the Slanghoek Valley in Rawsonville. We had a sunlight mountain in mind in the background, but...The morning of the shoot was some of the thickest fog I have ever seen in our valley. As I always say, roll with the punches! I honestly think that the job description next to the profession of photographer in the dictionary MUST be A Problem Solver because that is what we do 90% of the time. Well, we got some amazing shots in the fog, it just adds another element to the images, one tat you dont see often. Let me know what you think, and feel free to share.

Cape Town Engagement shoot – Deano & Judith

I think it's about time to get some of my images up on my blog again, man it's been long. So let's start off with the Cape Town Engagement Shoot of Deano and Judith. I have known these two for some time already and a couple of years back, I did the shoot for them at Judith's 21st birthday. Now a couple of years later, man how time flies, they contacted me again to shoot their wedding later this year! What a stunning couple, inside and out and I am really looking forward to this wedding in November! Please feel free to share with friends and family.

Proposal Photography – Hentie & Caitland’s African Engagement

I got this email one morning from Hentie asking about proposal photography, to which I replied but somehow it must have gotten lost in the interweb's abyss, I got a phone call from a number showing Florida on my phone...weird, who would call me from all the way over there? It was Hentie, so we had a quick chat about what he had in mind. Basically to cut the story a bit short is that He wanted to ask Caitland, on her first trip to South Africa, to marry him in the African Bush. Now the Western Cape is not renowned for their amazing wildlife opportunities. After quite a few phone calls and WhatsApp messages back and forth the venue was decided. He booked a private game drive at Aquila Game reserve, just outside Touwsrivier. From there we would go to Kagga Kamma in the southern part of the Cederberg. Now its a bit of a drive but its worth it. Right, so here was the plan. Firstly I had to make a sign for him, saying: Would you Marry me Caitland. That was done while we just had our baby! I just figured I need to help this guy going through all the effort for this special day, and to say the least, I think we became friends in the process! I was going to meet them at Aquilla, I was going to act like just another tourist that just happened to be on their game drive. So armed with my long lens I looked like a wildlife photographer. As we got on the game drive vehicle we introduced ourselves and I had to pinch myself from giggling like a little girl the first half of the trip! We chatted like this was how it was supposed to be. I asked what they do and where they are from, obviously I knew all of that already LOL. I even offered to take photos of them and offered to mail these to them afterwards hahahaha. So as we took the drive up the hill where the table was set with bubbly and flowers I got myself ready to jump out and start shooting. As they say, the rest is history! Man, it was so special to be such a huge part of this special day for them. From Aquilla, we drove to the stunning Kagga Kamma Nature reserve to do the formal engagement shoot. The location we did it at was their outcrop room under the stars! Simply mind blowing. Caitland got all dressed up and after a short quad bike ride with some laughs, we were there. We were treated to a spectacular sunset. So here is some of the images of this awesome day. Feel free to comment and share with your friends and dont forget to give my Facebook page a like.

Engagement Shoot – Frederick & Annele

I will be doing Frederick and Annele's wedding later this year at a stunning new venue in Worcester. But first we had to do the engagement shoot! Both Frederick and Annele wanted to do something a bit different. Not the normal couple shoot for their engagement shoot. They really loved the idea of something to do with water and I have always wanted to do a similar shoot at Theewaterskloof Dam. So the plan was made! With the current level of the dams in the Western Cape, there is very little water in the dam, that means that all the old trees that used to grow on these grounds that is submerged during winter when the dam is full, is all exposed on dry land! This makes for a stunning backdrop and I have shot here many times before. With the awesome late afternoon golden light, we had we created some amazing images in and out of the water. So, let me not keep you longer, here they are!

Jeanre & Luan – Engagement shoot

This is the engagement shoot of Jeanre & Luan. This stunning couple booked me for their wedding that is taking place later this year. I simply can't wait for it, as I think this is going to be one fun wedding! If I make a really cool connection with clients during the first meeting, the big day is bound to be awesome. Feel free to share.

Engagement Shoot – Lee & Janine

Here we go, finally I get time to load the engagement shoot of Lee and Janine that was done at the stunning Die Eike Guesthouse in Rawsonville. The two of them took a break from their hectic training schedule for the Ironman to come and visit my valley for their engagement shoot. It was a stunning winters afternoon with stunning light here in the valley and we had loads of fun! That is why engagement sessions is so important to both photographer and the couple. Its more a get to know each other session than a photoshoot. We just happen to take cool photos in between. Please feel free to like comment and share this post!

Worcester Engagement Shoot – Matthew & Megan

I met Matthew and Megan while I was in Yzerfontein to photograph Brent and Genna's wedding at Die Strandkombuis. The have booked the venue and came in for a meeting and bumped into me. Details was exchanged and as they say, the rest is history. We had their Worcester Engagement Shoot at the stunning Die Eike venue in Rawsonville. It was such a stunning day with stunning light. I am really looking forward to this wedding as I think its going to be a big one! Please feel free to like, comment or share this post.

Engagement Shoot – Sonia & Jerado

Right, here we go. This has to probably be my best engagement shoot I have done to date. Not that any of my other shoots was bad, but this one will just probably be my most favourite one for a long time. The thing with engagement shoots is that its just a couple shoot, lots of hugs and kisses and giggles and laughs. One rarely get the chance to shoot something different, as not all couples are equally adventurous or open for new things. Well, Sonia and Jerado wanted to do a shoot at Twede Tol in Bainskloof. When we got there it was packed, like most popular picnic spots is on a warm day. People where playing in the river and there was cars and umbrellas everywhere.... Not the ideal spot to do a shoot with people who probably have never been in front of the camera. Once they arrived and we started chatting, the guard at the gate asked us if we don't want to go to the waterfall. Waterfall, well I am always keen for a waterfall! And so where they. After a short hike we reached the waterfall and man was it spectacular! We ended of the shoot with them, myself and Hanro, a fellow photographer, up to our neck in the pool, sopping wet and ecstatic about the shots. well, here you go, have a look and please tell me if you agree with me ;) Here is a behind the scenes shot from Hanro, just to prove what we did .

Stellenbosch Engagement Shoot – Cecile & Du Toit

I am photographing Cecile and Du Toit later this year. But first we had to do an engagement shoot with them. In our chatting we came up that we wanted to do something a bit different than the normal couple shoot and Cecile, after many hours on Pinterest, came up with a shoot at the local airfield... NICE! So we headed out to the Stellenbosch Airfield and we went and had some fun. Du Toit was dressed in his "top gun" outfit as he called it and Cecile had this cute polka dot dress on. After the airfield we went back to the farm they live, the Fijndraai Estate. We shot all around there in in the stables on the farm as well. To end it off we went into the camp with the foals of the horses. What a better way to end of a shoot than with baby horses and stunning light. Lourensford Estate Engagement Shoot – Dewald & Denise

It is not often you get to do a shoot with a person who has the same name as you, especially with the name Dewald. Dewald and Denise wanted to do a Lourensford Estate Engagement shoot. So one afternoon after work we went through to Somerset West to do their shoot at the ever stunning Lourensford Estate in Somerset West. We shot everywhere, from the garden to the Pear Orchard. Have a look and let me know what you guys think ;)
