Garden Route Wedding – Oppie plaas Wedding venue – Arian & Riani
At the end of March I was asked to photograph the wedding of Ariaan and Riani in George in the Garden Route of South Africa. Well here is the album, and its a LONG one LOL. I first did a friends shoot the after noon before the wedding with Riani and her friends and then the next day I was shooting from 8am in the morning till 10pm the evening! Long day but so worth it, especially when the couple gives you about 4hours to do the couple photos!Right where do I start? About 5 years ago I did fly fishing trips down in the Garden Route and there has always been one lagoon I could never get to, I can see it on google earth but there was just no known road to get there, plus having almost vertical cliffs on either side made it VERY difficult to hike in as well. Anyway, I get this e-mail from Riani asking me to photograph their wedding in Heroldsbay, so obviously I jump at the opportunity. Low and Behold she tells me it is at this secret Lagoon that I have always wanted to go to, so now I was even more excited! Just the pure sight of it was awesome, I could not fish, even if I wished I could LOL it was worth it just being there.
I started early the Saturday morning and it was quite chilly, later on it actually started to rain and there was a couple of nervous moments. Ariaan and the groomsmen slept on the beach the previous night, they had to get everything ready. I really felt for them, they went up and down those 217 steps more than anyone should! RESPECT!
The ceremony was done different. Riani walked in first and went to stand by the pulpit, Ariaan came down last, this symbolised Jesus coming to fetch his bride, very special indeed. He came walking down the steps to the sound of Rams Horns being blown by his brothers.
The rain stayed away and we enjoyed our time on the beach, chilly, but not cold. There was one or two small drops at times but nothing to stress about.
After the beach we went to the old road that joined George and Knysna. We stopped at the old bridge that crosses the Kaaimansriver. Here we where rock hopping and shooting some great shots.
Thank you guys for being awesome, it was great photographing you guys and you where naturals in front of the camera.
