This is another special personal post of mine. The Birth Photography of my second baby girl, Riné.
My first born is now nearly 3 years old, and I simply can not believe how fast the time has flown! Three years went by in the blink of an eye and now my second one is here.
There is no feel more special than seeing your child born, and being fortunate enough to witness it for the second time is even more special.
Our date was the 3rd of March 2016 and my wife, Karin was booked into her bed at the Christiaan Barnard Memorial hospital in Cape Town the night before. The next morning, as we were first on the list, I had to face a bit of rush hour traffic to get to the hospital, but luckily I was in time.
As this was the second one, we knew what was going to happen, and what was even more special, apart from the assistant surgeon, the whole team was exactly the same as it was with Emily’s birth 3 years ago, so this was almost like a reunion! We received the exact same special treatment from the staff as we did with Emily. Because I knew what was going to happen and when it was about to happen, I spent more time looking at what they did and it’s fascinating to see.
I really think I should have worked harder at school and maybe I could have been a surgeon myself hahahaha.
Not even 20 minutes after we went into the theatre, Riné gave her first cry, a sound that touches a parent’s soul and a sound that you will always know, even if your baby is laying between 20 other babies and all of them are crying. Its nature I guess, the pure primal instinct that is buried so deep in each of us humans.
It has now been nearly 3 weeks later and Riné is fit and healthy and sleeps like a dream. We could not have asked for anything better.
So here I am, sharing some of our families most intimate moments with you. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I do sharing it with you. If you did, please feel free to share with friends and family.
